Currently, Annabelle is an Emerging Talent Diversity Advisor within the Financial Services, she works within the Emerging Talent Department to help with the building of the Black Heritage Strategy across the whole of HSBC - focusing on attraction, retention, inclusion and progression.

Being involved in a range of programs and initiatives such as 'Merky Books', 'Lift and Lift-Off', 'Generating Genius', 'HeadStart', '10,000 Black Interns' and much more, she is able to bring a wealth of experience, insights and recommendations to elevate the strategy. In this multi-faceted and versatile role, she is working in the intersection of Early Careers and Diversity and Inclusion, championing inclusion on the Agenda within this space to create a pipeline to success, a network of support and long-term, long-standing effects

Alongside her professional work, Annabelle is a Postgraduate student at University College London. Her research interests and modules include ‘The Black Radical Tradition’, ‘Race and Racism in World Politics’ and ‘International Human Rights Law’.

On a personal level, she educates and researches anti-racist pedagogy, critical consciousness building, the facilitation of diversity and inclusion, the power of intersectionality as an educational framework and the lived experiences of marginalised communities in a modern day society.

The aim of her work is to create culture founded upon awareness, consciousness and speaking up. Through unpacking myths and stereotypes regarding the politics behind the distributions of power, and investigating the role of racism and anti-racism in social, professional, and educational spaces. Founded upon the core belief that the workplace is a microcosm for the way the world interacts on a larger basis, she encourages people to analyse their identities and positions within systems of power and develops structures to address this to provide equitable outcomes for all.

Annabelle offers a variety of strategic consulting and advising, trainings, facilitations, workshops and keynotes related to anti-racism, allyship, diversity and inclusion, implicit bias, micro-aggressions, social justice and impact social identity, discrimination, Black British history and much more.

If you are interested in any of her work or speaking at your institution, please contact her.

“Diversity is not an aspiration, but a reality. We must not aim to be diverse, but reflect the diversity which already exists and is thriving in the society around us.”
